“Do not eat iPod shuffle”

I just took a close look at the new hardware from apple: iPod shuffle and the mac mini. Overall i am pleased with the both products, although I am a little confused with footnote 2. for the shuffle, who would seriously eat it?

I think the shuffle is a pretty cool concept, it is so small. It has a touchpad just like the iPod, with play, back, and forward, all good. There is a switch to turn on, play in order or shuffle, ok more good features. It has a battery indicator, good. But, there is no screen to tell me what is playing! I think I really want/need this on my portable music player. I would suspect apple is going take some flack for this and would hope to see it on the second generation. I don’t think I really need this, and will stick with my 40GB iPod for now, but still I like the idea of the shuffle and it is cooler than I expected after reading a lot of rumors the last 2 weeks..

Now onto the mini, which I really like and will probably purchase, however I think I need to make that decision quickly or I could be waiting a while. Apple is clearly going after the wintel market here. Reading the mini page online there are suggestive remarks everywhere on how to migrate from a windows platform, even unix programmers can see a suggestion on how to use it. I think this is going to sell like crazy and I will need to buy online cause I want specific specs (give me more than 256mb). But if it doesn’t I think apple will decrease the price, cause they want market share more than they want to make money on this.

Anyway, i am losing my train of thought, and gotta get some sleep I need to wake up in 3.5 hours.
